Craigluscar Farm Fold is set in 200 acres of scenic countryside just outside of Dunfermline. We started in 2001 with the purchase of Craig of Millerston and 20 Highland cows and calves. In 2004 Hamish 2nd of Drumfurrich was bought to run with 20 of Craigie's daughters. Our focus at the time was on providing high quality beef with meat being sold from the farm and any excess young stock being sold on at stores sales.
In 2012 it was decided to change the focus to breeding Pedigree cattle and to start showing whilst still selling meat. We purchased some new cows to add to the herd whilst keeping the best of our home bred heifers and Appendixing our better home bred cows. Angus Dubh of Savalmhor joined the herd in 2014 after we were unable to resist buying him at Oban to continue improving our breeding programme.
Our main concern on the farm is the health and well-being of our cattle. They are kept outside all year round and only supplemented with silage in the winter. The young stock are fed a small amount of grain during their first winter to stop them losing any weight. After which they then live on a forage diet which allows the beef to be succulent and tasty. We have Elite Health Status, accredited for IBR, BVD, Lepto and Johnes risk level 1.
We currently supply our quality Highland beef all over central Scotland. Our cattle are grass fed and well hung for 3-4 weeks. This process ensures that our meat is lean and tender with a slightly "gamey" flavour. Highland beef is gaining popularity worldwide due to its high quality and low cholesterol levels.
All classes of stock are available at the farm. Whether it be show quality, commercial beef or even a couple of easy maintenance lawn mowers. We offer an excellent after sales service and are happy to help with any queries regarding the cattle. Please take some time to browse the site and do not hesitate to contact us if you require any further information.
